I don’t know if I’d call myself a ‘hardcore’ naruto fan exactly, but even if Madara is lying through his teeth (a reasonably probable idea) the story is still progressing nicely.

This is all pretty interesting (and quite funny. Love the irony of it) but…
how do we know that “Madara” isn’t just majorly fucking with Sasuke’s head, for one reason or another? Like, going amok in Konoha, or joining the Akatsuki out of guilt and getting the Kyuubi for him, or even just for fun? He’s a Shinobi, “Lie” is his middle name.

Well, to be honest here. “Hardcore” Fans of Naruto or Manga in general, that look for more than just action, in a manga will find this very nice. This sort of talking as Aura Lawliet said, is progressing the story very far in a few chapters.
